What are the chances that the ZR1's CCM brakes will be able to be swapped onto the Camaro? Does anyone know?

I echo the above and wonder why? Yes they could stop the earth's rotation, however are you racing or something?

to buy the disks and calipers is around 8k from a dealer if you can find a vin for a zr1 to order them.

the problem is you probably dont want to do it. I was one of the first people to start posting about doing that swap, but in all my research you wouldnt want too. With the extra wieght brembo/race dynamics say the car will have major problems with brake modulation. give it a little and it will slow down a little, then give it a little more and it will stop the car completely. the zr1 uses a computer actuated controller for the brake cylinder, and you can't just swap one into the camaro as it wont give enough pressure to make up for the added weight. so you'd have to stomp th brake all the time. so overall your much better off looking at larger bicast disks and calipers from a cts-v

and the cts-v package looks like it's a relatively easy swap from the video of the SEMA cars being built

14 inch brakes not big enough??? I'll wait and see if I can make the stock stuff fade, if so, might just need a pad change.

Stock Diameter should be plenty big enough. 14.4" discs with 4 piston calipers should be big enough your limiting factor will be traction between the tires and road, not ability of the brakes to slow the car. My main concern is weight. Anyone ever picked up a set of 14+" iron discs? I was reading about Aston Martin's latest DBS which uses 15" CCM brakes. They saved 25lbs PER WHEEL over the iron discs. A 100 pound reduction of rotating, unsprung weight does wonders for both handling, braking, and accelleration.

There's no way I could spend 8000 on brakes, so I had planned on shopping around for wrecked ZR-1's being parted out. Guess I'll stick to two piece discs with aluminum hats.

From my experience working for an insurance company previously, high end cars that are totaled and parted are usually parted for big bucks. Meaning you probably wouldn't save much on those brakes as shops looking to fix non-totaled cars faster jump all over model specific parts like that. There are much cheaper ways to achieve the same result you're looking for..

Ive seen completely obliterated rolled Lamborghini Murcielagos go for over $100,000.

Thanks Rogue, I was unaware of that. I'll probably just get some of Brembo's cross drilled/slotted rotors with aluminum hats like on the GS Camaro. And hopefully talk Riley Technologies into selling me their carbon fiber hood/fenders/trunk lid!
