The only thing I feel sorry for in this situation is the dog.
Whether the cop was an asshole, or the owner didn't know how to take care of an animal, all we know is that the dog is dead.
Maybe the dog was confused as to why he was locked in a van while his owner ventured off to who-knows-where (to the dog). If I was an animal and my owner did that, I'd become confused and extremely distressed. Especially if a stranger comes up to my shelter.

None of us know what happened. Let's try not to point fingers when the only thing we know is that the dog is dead.

Surely you're not about to blame this situation on a damn video game.
What about violent movies? Violence on the news? Even books?

Violence has existed for as long as time itself. Yet, you're blaming video games.
Did it hurt your brain while typing that? Did you think that maybe... just maybe... your completely and utterly ridiculous assumption... was silly?
Because that is exactly what it is.

I'm going to go ahead and award you a Darwin award.

We do know the dog (even by your own admission) was locked in a van with the window 2/3's of the way up and posed ZERO threat to kill the cop.

I own 7....anything from a 10lb mini pug to a 110lb German Sheperd and anything in between and none of them, even in free space would pose a SERIOUS threat to my life. Yes the Sheperd would be a handful, and I'd have bites, cuts, etc....

A grown man, professional, has to be somewhat trained in diffusing situations, had other means...

He merely could have just backed away from the van. He didn't.

Here in Baltimore, a cop recently slit a dogs throat with a Swiss Army knife. Completely awful.

Details behind why? Probably "lunged" at him...

Couple of days ago a Georgia deputy tries to shoot a dog, but instead shoots a 10 year old.

Everyone is always so quick to jump to conclusions and back-set quarterback the decision made. No one here was there or know exactly what happened. There is no video to provide a clearer picture on how the dog was acting and how the officer responded. I'm not saying the officer made the right decision, but I am also not saying he made the wrong one, because I wasn't there. The media will construe any story they can to make it appeal to the viewers.

You must have missed the dog being locked in the van part...

While I do agree the media has it's way of twisting things to make it fit what they want it to....

It's a petition from change.org to get the officers fired in Baltimore.
