So the car wouldn't start yesterday...

Went to leave from work and couldn't start the car. Just got a lot of clicking noises and the horn started to honk. But what was odd was that I got a few different items pop up in the message center that I've never seen before. Like : Open and the close driver window. Then the same message but for the passenger side. Then that went away, I got the ol' service stabilitrac message. Then change oil soon (which is needed). I then got "2 keys prgrammed". The last one was either CAL or CAI where the compass info usually is. I got the car jumped and took it to the dealer. One of the guys there said "Well I hope you haven't fried the ECM. One lady brought hers in with her wires crossed". I told him "Luckily I didn't do that". I wouldn't even know where that would be to be completely hones. No mods to the car except formy Gibson exhaust, and AAC halos. Anyone have any ideawhat might have caused all this. Oh and also, I didn't leave anything on (halos, lights, etc.) just driving the car as normal back and forth to work. This has never happened before. 30 days till warranty ends.. Any help would be appreciated. Haven't gotten the car back yet..

Let them check it out on warranty, sounds like an electrical issue or bad ground.

Could just be a bad battery.

I just don't want them to come back and say it was something I did to the car and they won't fix it... I had an issue once where my headlight went out, tried changing the bulb and it still didn't work. I took it in and they said the ballast went bad and said it was due to be changing the halos. That didn't sound right to me at all especially since at that time, I have had them in for a little over a year with no issues but what can you do? $485.00 later it was fixed..

I would say the best thing to do is to go to a dealership to get this addressed. from there, if things don't seem to go very smoothly, we can go ahead and research the concern further for you. Please let us know what happens.

Fast clicking and electrical glitches on modern cars I've found are usually a failing battery. It will have some voltage and cranking amps, but not enough to power up the modules and healthily engaged the starter. The car is too new to expect something out of the ordinary and I find that most factory installed batteries only last a few years.

Got the car back yesterday afternoon. Dealership replaced the battery under warranty and said that it had gone bad but they weren't sure why. After it was replaced, the codes went away and all is well. On a side note.... The dealership has 3 ZL1's. Blue convertable, 1 red auto, 1 red manual. Seeing all of them made the permagrin all that much greater! I even got to sit in one and start her up. Very awesome. Too bad I don't make that kind of scratch..!

I get the car home from work today and now I notice that the oil is leaking. Oil is coated on most of the underbody of the car. I got the oil changed while it was at the dealership for the other issue. Now... I don't wanna complain but they had my car for a full 24 hours. I know mine wasn't the only car there that needed service and it took them all day to get a replacement battery, I'd think that you'd notice the oil leaking under the car!

That sucks.... hard. Make sure you get whatever oil is missing back in the car and tighten everything down like they should have. You'll probably have to call them to figure out what kind of oil they put in there... if they even know. Brandon probably knows what they SHOULD be using

No offense to the customer service guys that are on the forums here (I really like the fact that you guys are on here and respond to so many issues), but if my car were going in for warranty work, I would specifically ask them to do zero other things to the car. Don't even wash it. There can be a difference in care between someone who forked out $38k for a car vs. someone who doesn't own the machine. I'm sure lots of dealerships do a great job, but there is no reason to take the chance on basic maintenance items like that.

Crappy day huh?

I'm taking it back in the morning.... on a Saturday.... which is my day off. Believe me I'm all for changing my own oil I just don't have the means to get under the car and get it done. But I'm going to make it known that it shouldn't be an all day thing. I plan to take my little girl to her first air show tomorrow..
