The only reason I originally posted this as there was quite a debate going on about the headlight design (concept v pre-production). Whilst I prefer the concept's halo lights, I really love a quad headlight design, as in this photoshop. What amazes me is, the european Capri was seen as our version of the Mustang yet, with some very subtle changes, it's possible to turn a Chevrolet Camaro into a modern take on the Capri. The main styling features of the Capri were its backwards C-shaped rear side window, the quad headlights and that hood (or bonnet, as we Brits say ) [/QUOTE] |

^Dual halos on either side make it just a wee bit too busy for me. I'd actually have to see how it looks like on the concepts REAL front end...w/ dual halos to be sure.

Those are the Capri's I think of too. Problem was, everyone knew that underneath they were still a Mustang.

I actually think that the chop you are calling a Capri could stand an emblem and a grille change, and maybe, just maybe, you could have a modern-day Chevelle on your hands. Doesn't make much sense in the Chevy lineup really, but how about a Buick Skylark or (gasp) a Pontiac GTO? |

I think the single halos (from the concept) make it look mean, even mad at whatever else is on the road.
The dual halos, for some reason, make me think of Johnny 5, you know, from the Short Circuit movie....that robot....and that's kind of wussy. |

I used to own a capri back in 86-90... it was a pretty cool little car. Mine was a '76. I actually put a Ford Mustang 5.0 engine in it. -it fit great and was very fast. I used to blow 944's away all the time. -as well as mustang 5.0's since my capri was lighter.
Ford / Mercury made the capri. They were sold in Europe as well as the US from about 1974 to 1987. They came in 4 or 6 cylinder models. They shared the same engines as many other cars of the day.. the 4 cylinder used the same 2.3 engine as was in pinto's and the like. The early Capri's (early to mid 70's were pretty cool cars and had a unique look). Sometime in the early to mid 90's Ford/Mercury re-launched the capri line ...it was a pathetic attempt to bring back the once popular car. The capri of the 90's looked nothing like the earlier versions... I think Ford was trying to compete against the super popular Miata of the early 90's. -it was a lame and feeble attempt. My friends and I would refer to the Capri of the 90's as a "Crapi". Honestly I can't see Ford/Mercury bringing back the Capri. Although a cool car in it's day, I don't think the Capri has as much brand recognition w/ today's buyers... heck 1/2 the people on this forum didn't know what a Capri was. -why bring it back? |

What I see when I look at the chop is a Firebird.

This can't be official, it looks like somebody just took Photoshop to the Camaro Concept image...

It's interesting to say the least. I think it has the ass of a 70 chevelle, but the front end looks like the old 58 chevy/caddy front end mixup. Doesn't look bad though. |
