My first car when I turned 16 in 1980 was a 1969 Camaro SS 396. I'm now 50 and bought myself a 13ss leftover. It's not about the age it's about maturity level.

Coming from a below avg income family, my 1st car in 97 (after HS) was a 87' Mazda 626.... My 1st "New" car was a 2011 Kia Optima 2.0 Turbo... Loved it for 3 years, then finally upgraded to a 2014 SS fully loaded @ 34 years old...6 months ago!

Steady Job & great credit score works wonders.

By "handed" I meant "given without earning". If you were given a Camaro by your parents through achieving an adequate GPA, then more power to you. I consider that earning, since most of the time parents will make a deal with their child about something of this nature.

Earning a car for good grades is hilarious! My 2yo first car will be earned the same way I got my 1st car.... By working for it! I don't care how rich I will be when he turns 16.

And today If I were a kid I would choose that hand me down 69 over a 2015 any day. Well as long as it started well every morning!

The only hate you should get is why the world is the front of that car sitting so high?

We need another good ole parking thread cause these types are just annoying. Let's start criticizing the old farts, not camaro nor car enthusiasts that buy Corvettes and ZL1s and such, and never hit above 110mph,due to a mid life crisis.

Im not sure about where you live...but there is no way a 16 yr old is making car payments to any kind of financial instituation in my neck of the woods. You dont get financing at that age on your own.

Maybe his parents signed for him they have good credit 0% interest with 5,000 down would leave his payment about $400 a month. Really not impossible

Who knows...im a parent of a 28 yr old and a 16 year old.....so i know whats possible and what isnt.

Who cares what they drive!

My first car was a Ford Temp that was like 8 years old. My parents gave it to me cause it was the base model and had like 80hp, lol.

I wanted a Camaro since I was a boy. Finally got mine when I was thirty. I have no ill will towards kids today. Either they saved money or their parents were cool enough to get them one. My parents sucked!!!
