Rupes Results...

I finally upgraded from a Porter Cable to a Rupes after trying the Rupes at the Syracuse Nationals.
It operates so much more smoothly, and I was hoping that it would not hurt my wrists like the PC.

Well, after 4 hours of polish-polish-wax, my wrists were happy and the result was fantastic.
The smooth operation really seems to make it a more effective tool.

I used Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover & Finishing Glaze on the paint, and Adam's Brilliant Glaze on the paint protection film.
Pinnacle Liquid Souverän wax was used on all.

Now the paint positively glows in the sun.

Looks great! My BF 21 is in transit! Did you use the washer mod?

I've always hand polished. I think I'm going to skip the PC and go straight to the Rupes 21 or Flex 3401.

If you've never used a polishing machine, the Flex could be a bit much to start out with. It's direct drive and will have a tendency to "walk" on you if the pad is not kept completely flat to the surface.

The 21mm throw of the Rupes is great for fast correction, but is limited on pad size and really isn't made for the smaller areas of the car.

The Griots Garage 6" has more power then the PC, also carries a lifetime warranty, and you can use a wide variety of backing plate sizes with it.

If your just moving to machine polishing I'd recommend the Griots 6". While it won't correct as fast as the Flex or Rupes, it's very user friendly.

I cannot speak to the Flex...
But I will vouch for the Rupes BF 15 as being very user friendly.
Compared to the PC, it is much smoother and nicer to use.
The 15 may be the better size unless you are doing pickup or vans or boats, or need to maximize your productivity.

Adding a washer to make the machine free spinning instead of having the anti-spin shroud normal set up.

you're ****ing crazy, I don't even know how to hand polish anymore. Start with the PC, it's a great learning device. Once you gain more knowledge then move up to a faster better polisher otherwise you have the likelihood of damaging the paint.

I 100% disagree.

The rupes is easier to use than the PC. If you can afford it, get the Rupes and skip the PC altogether.

If you're talking Flex or rotary which are harder to use than the PC, then yeah get the PC first. But the rupes is just so easy to use.

Your arms must be huge...or sore all the time. LOL I love my Flex polisher. It's a self-correcting polisher. I'm pretty sure the BF is also.

I use the FLEX for heavy correction, Normal polishing or waxing and sealants I use the PC.
Flex is pretty heavy to use for polish and lighter stuff.
