Clutch reservoir mod after 3K miles!!

Best mod ever! Fluid is already contaminated after 3K miles!!!

[IMG][/IMG]

I sucked the old dirty fluid out and now ready for another 3-4K miles! I am really happy I did this mod right from the start!! Everyone should do this.

Yup. I did mine around 800 miles or so. Can definitely see how glad I am that I did this mod when I look at how dirty colored the clutch reservoir is compared to the brake fluid reservoir.

Nice choice for a mod!

Sure,

From the factory, the car came with a big reservoir for both the brake fluid and the clutch fluid, which is a big fail IMO. Why? because when you hit the clutch hard, clutch dust is going to contaminate your clutch fluid. So at the same time, you will contaminate the brake fluid AND you cannot flush the clutch fluid only, which takes 1-2 minutes max with the mod. Bleeding the brakes for no reason is a PITA!!

Flushing your clutch fluid will help your clutch staying alive, have better shifts and helps your trans too.

GTOs/4th gen Camaro and Firebird had their own separated reservoir. The fluid used to get all black/brown from clutch dust in my ole 4th gen, and that was happening really quick.

See this for the Ranger methot, this guys is the man!!;

I bought this kit;
http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=236850

No drilling needed. Use a lot of towels because the brake fluid will DESTROY your paint!! Towels everywhere!!! A big plastic automotive syringe(the one with the tube is best)is a MUST, buy it at walmart or any auto parts.

Good time to put racing fluid into your brake lines

Mine also was dr pepper colored after 3k miles. I sucked it out and filled with DOT4. I can't decide if the fluid gets cooked or contaminated. This is a good mod.

It definitely is clutch dust. Ranger got the fluid analysed and it was it.

How does the dust get in there? Isn't the clutch slave sealed?

5500 miles on my 1LE
4500 on the Motul 600 fluid
3 track events
1 day at the drag strip.
Many many day of aggressive launches and hard driving
Fluid is as clean as honey (new)

Stock brake/clutch reservoir combo still in place sharing the fluid with no issues.....
