Timing Cover - Who knows?
Messing around under my hood I found a threaded hole in my timing cover. Anyone know why its left open there?
Its at the top left of the water pump pulley. Can someone with a 2010 LLT check and see if theirs is the same?

You have a leak from there as well? Well that's alarming.
I guess I could take a look at mine sometime.

It's for the tech to thread in a bolt to separate the cover from the engine block.

There you have it. I'm sure Chevy just wouldn't have left that many holes in the engine lol.

Jack bolt. Just make certain you have all the bolts out or you will be buying a new cover. There isn't a gasket, just RTV applied.

OK, cool, so there must be an inner seal I can't see.

I don't recall if there was sealant around the opening, suppose that it would have been. Because of the form a gasket used to seal the entire front cover, a bolt will push against the head, prying the cover off with little effort.
