Question Getting rid of the roller skates.

The oem brakes on my early build have those "roller skates" on top of them. To fit under my new 17" Bogart wheels, I gotta' make a change. Can I chisel the offending little devils off them? However they are removed, will the brakes perform differently? I assume that the "roller skates" were an attempt to "band-aid" a chattering sound in the brakes, am I right? So taken 'em off may cause a sound with which I'm willing to live, but the brakes will work as they did before the "surgery", correct?

I thank you fellahs, in advance.

Cut them off, or might as well upgrade the pads! =)

I don't have the SS but am upgrading to the SS brakes very soon. If my calipers have the skates, changing the pads will remove them? The pads are getting replaced with Hawk Ceramics before they go on the car.

The Brembo brake squeal is common to many different vehicles and brands. Some Camaro owners are very sensitive to brake squeal in part because the 5th Gen is so quiet. You won't change the braking characteristics of your Camaro. If you are using Bogarts, you probably have some RWHP mods that raise the ambient noise level so you may not hear the brakes any way.

Thanks fellahs,

I took your advice and ordered the Hawk ceramic shoes from Jegs. There's no point in screwin' around with the skates and the OEM shoes when I should upgrade to ceramic in accord with my car running 11.2's in the quarter mile. It' safer overall.
