I'd say yes...but we will never know. And if we are talking about this particular car...it made 671 at the wheels so significantly more than 700bhp. And not to stir the pot any more...but the ZL1 comes in auto....that alone will make up for a significant part of the disadvantage at the drag strip....many times all of it!...heaven forbid you put gears and a deep stall on it. If I were a drag racer that is exactly what I'd do. These engine mods and gears and a deep stall and you would be pushing 10s.

I'm still trying to come up with the scratch for an SS. That thing is pure fantasy land for us RS-V6 drivers.

You can take it at 130 mph, roll it flat, it will down shift to 5th, pull you back in the seat about an inch and the front end comes up about an 1-1/2 inch and it will pull the cheeks on you face back. Take your stock ZL1 out on an interstate ramp, turn on the ramp, get it nice and straight, and roll in it hard (remember I have an automatic) starting about 20 mph. It may spin the tires a little (mode 5 on the handling) and in few seconds (throttle response not great) it'll take off. I'm sorry, but a stock ZL1 needs help, or I'm really spoiled. My other car is a 2010 Hennessey 600. Last Sunday morning I took the 700, got on a ramp, got it nice and straight, rolled into it hard from 20 mph, spun the tires through first, second, and got a little sideways in 3rd and come off the ramp on to interstate at 145 mph. Additional info...the throttle response is so much different on the 700. You can take a half inch of throttle and run 100 mph all day long. Stock the car got 18.9 mpg and the 700 gets 20.9 both at a steady 70 mph. The Hennessey packages will be the best money you will ever spend on the ZL1 (or any other car). You won't regret spending a penny of it. And it falls back to what I've always said....you can't call it a car until it has that chrome HENNESSEY skicker on it.
How does the ZL1 package compare to your HPE600? Is it a real big difference??

Awesome ZL1 but I can't believe they installed a front license plate bracket.

The 600 has stall torque convertor and a 373 gear. There is not a lot of difference up to 50 mph, but after 50 the 700 has a lot more torque and power and the faster you go the more it shows up.

Thanks for the info. The HPE600 is so amazingly responsive, it is hard to understand what could be even more powerful. I can understand the low end. Heck, they are probably both just a big struggle to maintain traction up to 50 Mph....

I received a private message from someone questioning the statement that I made about the 700 having better exceleration numbers than the ZR1 corvette. First of all I'm just a dumb country boy and I've been around the block at least a couple of times, but this is what I got rid of to make room for the ZL1 Camaro. I know you guys have already figured out that GM did an awesome job on the ZL1, but I'm sorry GM....it needs HP bad, or I'm spoiled. Hennessey's 700 package has lots of power...a real monster in disguise. Get the ZL1 just like I want it. Wheels, lowered it, ceramic brake shoes then my wife took it. Now I'm stuck with driving the ole HPE 600! But I don't mind at all. Go get you a HPE 700, you will NOT be disappointed!
