I'm having a hard time understanding a "metalic" whistle. In my mind, any whistling is coming from wind movement. Unless it's like a piece of sheet metal sliding against another steel object.

Could the whistle you hear be a resonant frequency from wind passing through an area? And that's why it only does it at a certain speed?

No unfortunately mine doest rattle like that. I guess the best way to describe it is as a sustained metallic drone. Since I have to be going ~40mph or so its hard to capture the noise.

I'm guessing that its the HP fuel pump as the noise stops when I take my foot off the gas?

jerseypilot--I have the whistling noise as well; also had it on a 2009 Impala. I always attributed it to airflow around/thru the throttlebody and the throttle plate. It reminds me of the whistle you would hear from a very small vacuum leak. I'm still trying to track mine down.

Man, took my car to the dealer today and couldn't reproduce the damn problem. I'm also still getting the metallic noise at 43~45mph when cruising.

Hey y'all. Sorry to post a month later, and sorry you're having the same issue. For a while I thought I was the only one having this issue and gave up. It was such a hassle when I had to take my Camaro in for the torque converter which was easy to replicate. The dealer "couldn't replicate the shuddering" when my torque converter was crapping out, then I had to take time out of my work day to drive the mechanic to show it was messed up.

That's why I haven't taken it into the Chevy dealer, because I know I will have to take time out of my day to drive the mechanic to replicate the noise.

But last night when I was cruising at 45mph, foot lightly on the pedal, the noise started again I rolled down my window and it was really loud. So it is definitely coming from under the car. I need to borrow a go pro so I can strap it under the car and record this noise. I'm tired of the dealer run around on this thing.

So are the both of you guys having exact issues? Noise is present when cruising in the 30-50mph range with foot lightly on the gas, and noise goes away when you either remove your foot from the gas or start accelerating?

Started having a subtle misfire at idle, so took it into the dealer, dealer said bad DI so they replaced it, but kept insisting that the sound we are having is normal and related to the mechanical high pressure fuel pump. Going back later today, hopefully with better news.

sorry forgot to update. They kept talking about the tick on the high pressure fuel pump. I kept telling them, no that sound I know is normal, it's a metal on metal sound. Went back and forth, got fed up with them and ended up picking up my car. I'm going to see if I can record it at some point. This is getting retarded.

My 2010 had a noisy heater fan that many have also reported. But now my 2014 makes a similar noise to that whenever I am accelerating. But the heater fan isn't even turned on.
