The bell housing needs no modifications. It will bolt right up. I bought a Gforce 1320 cross member and driveshaft. You will also need to change to a flexplate. I bought a TCI billet one. I know Yank makes a good n/a and nitrous converter. The computer part is tricky, when you get to that point you can message me.

Ya I found out I can use an adapter plate with my trans, so its all good. The only thing I am conserned about at this point is the longer first gear in the th400. Everyone I have talked to seems to think I will pick up at lest 3-5 tenths, but it still worries me. Most of these swaps are done on cars with allot more power then mine. I am going to call PTC and talk to them about a converter and such.

Most TH400's would have a 2.48 first gear, I'm not sure the first gear in a manual 2010 Camaro SS, maybe a 3.xx?

Do you drag race a lot?

I have heard good things, was think 3600-3800 but we will see what they say. My olds was the same wieght as this car, same gearing and have a 2400. It moved out awesome but I had over 500ft lbs at 3000 rpms, so I am really gonna have to depend on the right stall with only a 3.42.

I go as much as I can... I don't drive very far in this car, longest trips are to the track! I want this swap for allot of reasons, I don't need 1k axles, a clutch, a gear ect. to run ok at the strip! I also figure with this swap gives me lots of room to grow in the power department down the road. The only down side I see is not being to drive 80-90 mph for extended periods of time, but I don't really do that anyway.

Yeah I was wondering how tough it would be to swap to a factory 6L80E.

Talked to PTC, he said he thinks I should go with a 3200. That's actually allot lower then I wanted, but he said with a 3200 my street ability will be very good with the 3.42. He said a 3600 will feel pretty loose for everyday use. He thinks I would still cut around .3 even with the 3200.

I wonder what it would cost to install a steeper first gear in the 400? Probably not worth the hassle

Good luck whatever you do. How come Jeremy (Syck) hasn't had the same clutch problem as you?

Bad- this is a great idea, you and I went through similar issues with our combinations. I think the change over to the automatic will instantly drop 4-6 tenths off of your times with repeatable performance. I can't wait to follow along with your build should you decide to move forward.

I wouldn't do it. In my 98 SS I went from M6 to A3 and then back to M6. The auto was a little more consistent but boring as hell to race and drive. Also gas mileage was cut in half and highway driving was annoying.

What kind of wheels/tires are you teaching on? Your times are about the same as mine, but I'm a lot heavier (probably 300 lbs) and only have bolt ons so I have a lot less power.

What 60 fts are you getting?

I figured I get this thread going again! My M6 trashed the throw out bearing, after 3 frustrating years at the track with this thing I am finally DONE! The trans has been sold and my th400 is about to go in!

I ordered the chevy to BOP adapter plate, and it looks like it will work out pretty nice. Going to mach up the trans sunday to get the driveshaft ordered and place my order for a converter from FTI! They are building me a LS style converter with the right hub and 3600 stall! I have a B&M gate shifter going in, and using the stick shift boot for a clean look.

I think the car is not only going to run at lest 3 tenths faster, its going to be WAY more fun running good 60fts and I still get to shift the th400!
