Best mpg driving mode going to Florida??

We have a 2LT Camaro...Going to Florida this winter & we were wondering what driving "mode" would be the best as far as getting the highest mpg's! The regular "D" or perhaps the "Sport" mode? The trip will be all expressway driving!! Thanks in advance for any suggestions!! Denny

I am not sure about "S" or "D" mode,,,but as we all know,, 55mph is optimum,,,but you won't get here till july..haha....i drive 68 most all the time...keeps the cops away, your comfortable, and you can make time a bit better... and your gas mileage will be fine..but as we know on this site....there will be many answers to this question.. just enjoy the ride..stop often and get here safe...we are waiting for you..))

stay under 70 for sure, air up the tires good, give it a fresh wax job, fresh oil change. pack light as possible. oh and bring a coat cause its cold as hell here today

leave it in reg mode cause sport mode will eat more gas as it changes your shift points to higher rpm's

It was pretty chilly here in Miami too and tonight will be colder! I mean it's nothing compared to the winters in Michigan but for us Floridians it's cold! LOL

Just back from Florida, but ours is the V8. Never drove above the maximum posted speed limits ( 55-70 ) more than a mile or two per hour, and in drive with the cruise on whenever possible. The car drove like a dream, performed well while getting 25.5 mpg. Oh! and no racing or hot rodding. Good luck and safe travels...............

git you a good Radar Detector, like a Escort 9500xi..It would be nice to stay under 70, but if you're like me, they ain't NO way!! Especially on those long empty stretches, I tend to 'bump up' the speed a bit...THAT'S when the escort saved my butt at LEAST 6 times on my trip down to Florida last spring..

once you on the highway.....it really won't make any differebnce which mode, as you will most likely be in only one gear the majority of the time....and for the part of the trip with the hills, keep it in drive, as you will be shifting less......as far as gettijg the best MPG.....use the cruise.....and about 60 to 65 mph.

7800 miles and I've never gotten more than 14.8 mpg. Highway, city, anywhere.
