Anti Theft Window Etching

Does anyone know anything about Safe Guards; THEFT PROTECTION PROGRAM LIMITED GUARANTEE AGREEMENT?

Dealer wants me to fill out this form and i believe its for the Window Etching which i do not want. Looks like it costs more $$$ than the $250 they told me from the begining.

Pleae advise...

If you don't want it, don't sign the paper.

My dealer did it without my authorization. One of the many things they do to earn a dollar. I think it's disgusting to do without telling the buyer. The option may be worth peace of mind-maybe- but thats not the point. They know your not going to say that you don't want the car; and they see that as a win and earning money.

Dealer tried to add it on to my Tahoe. When I saw it on the financing paperwork, I told them that I didn't agree to it and wouldn't pay. They took it off.

Anything the F&I department sells is either useless or can be bought much cheaper elsewhere. That includes financing.

That's a dealer scam to make more money! You shouldn't sign the paper and don't pay for a service they did without your permission/consent/or request! If the glass is already etched...the service is free to you...or have them replace the glass panels at their expense. don't let them coersce (sp) you.

Front and rear windows are etched with a number that can be traced back to the original buyer in case it's stolen. It's supposed to tell thiefs "Don't steal this car"---yeah right.

When I bought my car the salesman asked if I wanted to have these numbers etched into numerous parts of the car so it could be traced back to my car if stolen. He said it cost an extra $500. Said insuance companys like the idea. Told him no. If my car got stolen and they started finding these parts around, I surly don't want just parts of my car back.
