I dont have my own gun, but I carry at work. Glock 22 and Ar15.
Its such a pain in the ass to get a gun in NJ. I want one soon though.

How long did it take to get? I sent mine in mid Feb and was processing in May. They told me I didn't sign a form and sent it to me which of course pushed it back to the end of the line. Its been almost a month and its now starting to process again. What do you carry?

Yes, I have a concealed permit. In my state (which tends toward being very pro-gun rights) you can take one of several different kinds of NRA classes, or you are automatically qualified if you are ex-military.
My states permits carry a reciprocal with the surrounding states. I carried full time for many years. I no longer do, it's a serious commitment to carry a gun at all times and it effects the way you look at things. I usually only carry now when I'm hiking/fishing/camping-my biggest worry is stumbling on to a pot farm in the middle of nowhere. However when I'm out in the backcountry; I don't carry concealed- I carry very visible weapons. Anyway, I can go on and on about this subject- so I'll save it for a different forum. Do a search though, there have been some other posts with good info on the subject, and home defense as well. |

Packing dot org used to be the shaz nat but the guy got so overwhealmed and legal issues he had to shut down.
I don't even post on pistol related forums anymore cause it's so contentious. But I do belive in protecting yourself and your fellow citizens in a responsible and legal manner. Take as many classes as you can get in your area. I recommend Sammy Miller if your in Texas and interested in CHL or even just glovebox or home defense. http://www.concealedhandgun.com/ |
