Motor Trend Hellcat 1/4 test
Just found this...
http://wot.motortrend.com/1407_2015_...eet_tires.html Not sure if another thread was started yet but there is the link. 11.2 on street tires and 10.8 on drag radials. And to think that is with the MT guys driving and not a real drag racing pro. Pretty good numbers and they are gona be hard to meet. But the price still isnt out there so I am still in for replacing my SS with a ZL-1 one day and modding it for wayy less than this car and be able to run faster.

And I do mean replacing with a "gently" used ZL-1. My claim is based on not knowing the price of the Hellcat (assuming 75k area)

Should be around the same price as the GT500 and ZL1. To stay competitive also i think this car will run faster times like a 10.6 or so in good air. Simple bolt ons for this car and you are talking 9s like a GT500 does. I love the ZL1 but its outclassed in terms of straight line performance compared to this and the GT500.

Would most tracks make you cage the car running these numbers then or no

Assuming they did the test in the middle of this summer..I can only imagine what it will run in cooler air. I know there are tons of GT500's and ZL-1's modded that can out run this car but you gotta think..it's 10's with a factory warranty. Would be interesting if Dodge voids the warranty for dragging it though like GM does.

Actually, No they wouldn't. The way I read the rules if the car comes from the factory making those numbers you DO NOT have to put in a cage. Kind of strange but that's what the rules say. Maybe it will be time for a re-writing of the rulebook.

ZL1s are running inthe 9s, the hellcat run on stck tires was 11.2. A ZL1 here ran 11.6 with just a CAI. It should be easy to beat one and the ZL1 can turn, where is the hellcats ring time?

lol
Any car that is putting 600+ whp down should have numbers like that. What I am interested in is seeing if the new Challenger can turn AND the MSRP, which I am guessing is going to be way north of a ZL1 or Shelby. |

Depends on the track. At Atco it's under 10s for 2007 and up I think. I think the rules have changed. But even then a kick-out is rare now. A GT-R was running 8.5s with DRs the other night. They left him alone with no cage. But he was just test and tuning.
For me to add turbos, they said all I needed was a fire jacket.
