Wouldn't they just charge a gas guzzler tax on the cars that don't meet the CAFE guidelines and still sell them to the peeps willing to pay the tax?

I agree that boost is a replacement for displacement to a point!

If I were GM, I'd be wary about putting a turbo or even blower on cars because of warranty issues. Don't think for a moment that some genious won't make a boost controller type setup that will allow you to raise the boost and then be able to take it off quickly if service issues arise (I know because that's what I'd do......... LOL).
