This is a timed event,and my stop watch is my life line.I want to cross the finish line and break the beam at 43 min 12 seconds,to have a perfect run and win my class with a perfect average speed of 125 mph for the 90 mile course.Most have a navigator,GPS,computers etc. So as soon at their atomic clock shows it's time to go, i start the stop watch.It doesn't matter if i sit there for 45 seconds after the clock starts cause that time could easily be made up down range. I am putting part #4 of 5 here also.Look at 2:54-3:10 you will see my race flash before my eyes,as i see that my stop watch has malfunctioned.
Continue watching for a few min and you will see me running through the narrows,at 139 mph,posted 60.This part of the course is a major rush for me.You will also see me catch a grey camaro.I dont want to pass him,but i was super fast through there and he was slow,i pulled up along side him to say hi  ,also knowing he had a navigator,and GPS i then just tried to keep him 30 seconds in front of me,as that was our spacing,and managed a 5th place while driving blind so to speak.People come from all over for this event the next one is in Sept.you should come and do this. |

Long term update on the roll bars, race seats, and harnesses:
Absolutely love going to the track with them. It's just awesome. Some of the bolts that attach the mounting points to the car loosened up by themselves, had to be retightened. Need to check them regularly just in case. They did have lockwashers on, so that's strange. I broke one of the bolts on that attaches the roll bar to the driver's rear mounting point. The bolt got stuck and I put a 2 foot breaker bar on it to try to get it past a point where the threads got mucked up. Stupid idea. Busted the bolt in half. Gotta take the bar to my welder to extract this week. But at least the bar comes out with the bolt busted off. The seats are wonderful if you are tall. I have had an instructor who was so short he could barely see over the dash. Just bought some rigid foam today and am going to cut a few 1" or 2" slabs that a passenger can stick underneath to get some height. Not a biggie at all, especially as I am mostly going solo these days. When I ordered the harnesses I thought "better too big than too small" but that wasn't very smart. Each strap has at least 6-8" of extra strap flopping around. Doesn't bother me too much but I may get it shortened over the winter when I am not tracking it. Pete

Good to hear. It may have been asked before but what did you do about the seat airbags? Does the light just come on with the race seats in and then goes out with the stock seats back in place? Thats a nice setup you've got there, good job.

Long term update: I am selling this roll cage. Am getting an LS7 and in anticipation of very high track speeds I am having Arrington Performance put in a full 10-point cage. These bars have served me well, but it's time to move on. FS thread is below:
