I can't wait to learn the hard way, but something tells me I won't ever find the teacher!

Most of the low 12s I have witnessed were 5.0s with tune, x-pipe, and DRs. While not solely tune only it is impressive to say the least as to how little the 5.0 needs to reach high 11s to low 12s. Bang for the buck I think you would be hard pressed to beat the 11/13 5.0 automatic car add some bolt-ons and run at the 1/4.

They respond well to an X pipe and a tune, tires are the icing on the cake. That's allot more then just a tune like this guy claims. It just kills me when people think all I need is a tuned 5.0 to run low 12s and in reality that's just not true! His car runs strong stock, but there just as many if not more that are stuck in the 13s. I see it all the time, just like te 392 cars! Your car ran a great stock time, and I don't know if its my tracks or what but the fastest 392 I seen was from Modern Muscle at Byron! He was 12.8s all day at 107 and that was the only one I have ever seen even break into the 12s, all the rest I seen low 13s with SRTs in the high 13s.
My only thing is, I know all of these cars can run some great times, it's been done! But it's just not as easy as buying a 5.0 and putting a tune on it! You know that first hand, there are a few guys running 11s with Bolton camaros and yet both of us were stuck in the 12s! My issue will be solved in 2 weeks with th400!

The 5.0 is capable If the person actually knows how to drive the car down the track. Example me and a guy i know had similarly optioned 5.0's his was a 12 mine 13. I was very consistant with 8.2's stock, he was very inconsistant with 8.8-9.2's stock. we both added 555r's everything els was stock. i was at 7.9 all night he was in the 8.6-8.8 range. Driver seems to be the main diffreance in if these cars will run low to mid 12's or low 13's

5.0 is FAR more suceptable to a tune. They do wonders for the as well as doing basically nothing to a LS. Because the induction system of the 5.0 is super erupt with 4v and vvt. As well as the fact 5.0 does like 2k more rpm range

Standard U.S. English if it's not too much trouble. VVT and DOHC does allow for a wider range of tuning possibilities, but that does not mean that a conventional pushrod engine has no tuning potential. Norm |
