Rear end let go at track
Well I had my best 60ft tonight at track 1.430 on my 6spd. Heard a pop let out of throttle cruised home. Lifted car on jack stands axles still good drive shaft still good. I can hear a grinding noise wheels want turn . Anybody ever broke AAM 3.91 gears before?

I'd be surprised if it was the gear itself that let go, AAM is the same as the GM gears.
How much torque are you making?

H-E You was spot on bro my car felt like a rocket off the line. I just have to figure out the damage to that ring and pinion. That car is tough as nails I got all the way home before it wouldn't go in reverse . What's your opinion on how to get a beefier ring and pinion

One of your main bearings prolly let go. Thats what happened to mine. Assuming thats what happened, youre in for a total build, or an upgrade.

376LS3 what did you end up going with rebuild or upgrade and what's the damage cost wise I'm looking at. Will ZL1 differential work in our cars?

Ya, the ZL1 diff will work with small tweaks on your end. Its the best option for the money. Hindsights always 20/20, and I wish everyday I would have done the ZL1 diff instead of trying to bulletproof the stock diff. My problem was it being setup incorrectly. I had them build a stock diff with 3.91s, TruTrac, JRE billet endcaps, PFADT bushings. Long story short, the diff gave out at 15mph 800ft from my house. They didnt machine the endcaps to the correct bore, even though they charged me for it. $2700 pissed down the drain.

Whoa that's a lot of cash for upgrade and still have problem. I have DSS 1000hp axles will the ZL1 differential work with those.

No. You have the buy the entire kit. Diff, axles, and driveshaft. Nothings compatible.

So basically I had $2700 in the diff, $1100 for axles, and $900 for a driveshaft. Then I had to spend another $1700 for a new 1LE diff when that one crapped out. Coulda put a 9" in!
