'15 Red Rock Metallic 1SS-RS /1LE "The Story of SCAR1LET"

So it began back in mid July. I decided to step up from my '10 1LT-RS to the 1LE. Boy did i make the right decision.

After spending a day at the AutoClubSpeedWay in Fontana with my 1LT I made the decision then, this isn't going to cut it for me anymore. Don't get me wrong, she did a great job out there, was just as fast as most others with more HP in the corners, they were just able to pull away from me down the straights.

So after that day at the Track i came home and started to think what i really wanted. The ZL1 would be my first choice but to far from my budget, Z28 was just thinking about coming out to the public and price to high for me also. Heard everyone talking about the 1LE and how good it handled on the Track. So that is was what I started to research on.

Month or so passes and after tons of reading and research I decide the 1LE is for me. Now the big dilemma, talking the WIFE into getting it. She knows how much I love the Camaro and she should, I spent 4 years and approx 10k Modding the perfect Camaro I already own. In her words "What is wrong with the one you have already, my god you spend every spare moment on it and you want a different one". So over a couple day period and alot of bargaining between myself, her and my daughter i get the Go Ahead. What a difficult couple of days.

July 23rd was the day, the day i go in to Paradise Chevrolet and order her up. Have the list of all the options i want and spend the next hour or so placing the order. Thanks Becky. Now the wait, 10 LONG, LONG weeks before she arrives. No big deal i have a perfect Black Camaro already. I'll just wait it out in her. NOPE sell it the next day at a birthday party for my daughter. Just by chance my wife's cousin had been looking for a Camaro and was thinking about buying one. He went into the garage to get us a couple beers and comes back in the house and was like "Shit man that's a Bad Ass Camaro out there in the garage" I say jokingly "you want to buy it" not knowing he's been looking. He's like are you serious. I say yeup i just ordered a new one yesterday. Long story short he comes back later that week and buys it from me and loving it as much as i DID. Went to a good home.

So after 10 Long weeks of waiting I finally get the call she's at the dealer.

On the 26th of September I picked up "SCAR1LET" This is her story.

Beautiful color; Congrats. If I didn't have an SOM Camaro, I would've seriously considered this color.

The Rear Splash Guards were a OEM option. Cost was approx $200.

The color is unbelievable in person. One of the more rare colors built. I believe in '14 only approximately 190 1LE's in this color were built

So Scarlet's story begins in a bunch of these. Way before she even arrives.

Not much to look at until you open them up. And walla. Magic in a box

Reading and Reading on Camaro Forum's I find out how to make a great car even better then she is already. Questions and post from me and them i decide how i spend my FIRST 5k to improve her. Some performance and some beauty upgrade. She's no slouch out of the box but i know she can be better.

I have a vision in my head of how i want her to look. She's got to be different but still look like she did at first. So my first Mods start on Day 1. RotoFab Cold Air Intake in a Accent Yellow that will be throughout the Chassis. One of the most simple and common Mods someone could do. This one falls into both categories. Performance and Looks. For any of you thinking about putting on a CAI this is a simple mod, take approx 30mins and only a couple of basis tools.

Day 2 this is the big one. RideTech HQ Coil Over Suspension Upgrade. Some might think i'm crazy but i just think i'm a enthusiast. I know the 1LE is a Performance Package from the Factory but as mentioned before i want to go to the Track a half dozen time a year and want the ability to adjust how she response for that day on the track. These will allow me to do that to some extent.
So i ask for help, this is the first time i've done something this evolved on either of my Camaro's. So who steps up to the plate, my 17 yr old daughter, she's not like most girls you know at her age. I think she gets it from her dad. Car crazy too.

The next 14hrs we bust our asses and getting these baby's installed. Wasn't as bad as i thought they would be. Just took our time being Scarlet is only 2 days old at this point and don't want to scratch her this soon.

Her Story Continues

Your car is why I am at this forum. Well not your specific car, but it was a 1LE Red Rock Metallic car that got me to the "must have" stage. They look amazing!

But do have to ask, why is there a jack under the front right brake rotor in one of the photos above?

That was a pic during the Coil Over swap I just completed. Once the OEM strut is removed the Hub Assembly needs to be supported until the Coil Over is bolted in. I'll be posting videos tomorrow of that whole process. Trying to document everything on this car as I do the Mods.

The Story of Scarlet

It can help when lining things up to get a strut back in.

The box in that top picture looks like the one my ZL1 rear diffuser came in - is that it?
