Oil Capacity

new guy here. I just bought a 2011 2SS/RS M6. I just went to the dealer Saturday to get an oil change and it was $102. They had it on the invoice that they put 8 Quarts of oil in the car. Is that right? How much oil should it hold?
A friend of mine has a 2014 Corvette ans he says his car takes 8 Quarts because it has a dry sump. Is my Camaro the same? Thanks in advance for your input.

8 quarts is correct, it tells you the same in the owners manual. It is not a dry sump but it does have an oil cooler which adds to its overall volume.

8 is correct! Cheaper to DIY.
My parents have a SAMS club membership and mobil1 5w30 is $5.80 a quart. thats under $50 for all the oil needed. Throw in a filter for $12 and thats how I save.

Eight is correct. My old LS1 only took six with a truck filter.

My dealer will let me provide the oil and they supply the filter and labor for $10 and let me watch them do it. See if your dealer has a similar deal. 5 qt jug of Mobil1 at Wally World is about $26

Yep, like Zed commented, Wal Mart usually has good deals on oil but can't find a good filter there.

Pretty sure the C7 with Z51 package takes more than 8 quarts.

Edit: the C7 w/Z51 takes 9.8 quarts.

And just as an FYI- These engines, in particular the L99 like to run a bit low. I fill to 7.5qts, some on here go as low a 7qts.
