Racing Brake Motorsports compounds - On Track
Has anyone with or without the RB 2-piece rotors used the RB XT track compound pads? I'm pretty much a fan of the Hawk products but I'm thinking of using their compound to go with the RB rotors and I am curious how well they perform on track. I'm not really concerned with road use, dust, or noise.
If you did so, which ones did you use? XT960, 970, or XR970? Initial Bite? Fade resistance lap-after-lap? pad life? rotor wear? Very interested if you've tried and compared both the Hawk DTC-30+ or the new Hawk street/race pads and any of the XT compounds and in particular with the RB rotors on a road course.

From this thread it looks like Cobalt Friction pads might be the way to go:

If you drive fast and hard, CF pads are great. XR1 front and XR3 rear

The Cobalt Friction pads are awesome on the track, but do not use them on the street. Even driving out to the track is not recommended.
I ran the XR1 and XR3 setup that Pete suggested, but driving to the track ate my rotors. These are extremely aggressive pads that need a lot of heat to work. When they are cold, the pads are much harder than the rotors and will chew through them. I'm trying the Performance Friction pads this year. My friends in the Chump Car series uses these with great results. Low rotor wear and good pad life. |

We've been using the Hawk DTC 60s on all 4 corners with great results. They have a good, wide temperature range.

How did you get past the ABS activating in the rears? When I tried the street/race pads (essentially DTC-30s) this happened.

What's your brake setup? 6/4 or 4/4 piston?

The 4/4 piston set up is closer in size and stopping power front to rear. A split in compounds might be needed to keep the rear from being too agressive. With the 6/4 setup that Tyler runs, it offers a different bias that allows for running the same compound front and rear without the rear becoming too agressive.
