Dealer won't order 2010 Camaros

Hi guys, I'm new here (I have a '69 Camaro SS396), but want to buy a new Camaro. I live in a small town (85,000) with one Chevy dealer. When I asked them about the new Camaro yesterday, they said they had no information on it. I asked if I could order one, showed my checkbook, and he just said it was not possible to order one yet until they get info on it, so jujst leave your name and number. What gives with this? Is anyone out there really ordering them now? Ifso, maybe I should check in a larger town? Thanks for any info.

He's an idiot and/or just trying to mark them up. You can either use this to your advantage and get a car sooner (if he's that big of an idiot) or run far, far away and go to another dealer (if he's just trying to mark them up). Tons of us on here have ordered cars. Many have cars that have been built (but not delivered yet) already.

I have spoken with three dealers in the Rhode Island / Massachusets area and got the same response you got. Its frustrating. I have pretty much made up my mind to wait until early next year to order my 1SS, but I will keep my eyes and ears open for any opportunity.

If you walk into a dealership and the salesbot has no clue, talk to a manager/owner. If they don't know... try and convince them to check global connect. If they're lost and/or refuse, hit the road.

I live in a fairly isolated part of the country and have talked to two different dealers 200 miles from one another..........no problems. Hell, one even told me on the front end his mark-up was 6% and dared me to find another dealer that would beat it.

Well i work in the Camaro Plant and i can say with confidence that we're building the 2010 Camaro !! You really need to look into another dealer.

No wonder GM's trying to get rid of thousands of dealers...

Thanks for the replies, just about what I thought. That is what soured me on Ford a couple years ago with their new Shelby GT500 and KRs. They did this crap and now they have them stacking up in the dealerships and selling at $5K to $10K discounts. I would expect more from GM and Chevy, heck their deals on Z06 Vettes are great, but they want to gouge and turn down instant sales on the Camaro? Makes no sense.

Looks like they might be culling the wrong dealers.

Ask them if they'd mind if you order from another dealer who can place the order, and drop ship to their dealership
