Tap shift issues?

OK here is the problem I have right now. If I stop my car and turn off the traction control, drop it in manual and use the tap shift it does fine in 1st gear take it to about 5800 rpm's tap to 2nd gear and it almost instantly jumps to 3rd gear. At first I thought I was double tapping it, but after a few runs it still does it every time. It does go into 2nd gear for like 1.5 seconds before jumping to 3rd and killing my run.
Am I doing this wrong? Or is it something broken? The car has no mods and I use unleaded regular pump gas. Any help would be appreciated.

I understand what an inconvenience this may have caused you. Have you tried taking it to the dealership for diagnosis? This may be something that could be covered under warranty. If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks Brandon for your reply, I wanted to make sure I was not doing something wrong before bothering the dealership. The car only has 1100 miles on it so anything broken should be covered.

Should have bought a 6 speed!!!!! theres always a delay with the tap shift in vehicles but if its going from 2nd to third immediately there is quite surely an issue. Id get it looked at.

If you would like, I can contact the dealership to see if there is an earlier appointment available to fit your schedule. If you would like to send me via PM your first and last name, address, phone number, VIN, mileage, and involved dealership, I would be happy to look into it for you. Also, when would be a good day and rough time for you?

I would have loved to have a manual tranny, however I dont have the use of my left leg and the tap shift feature was the reason I got the camero to begin with. Just trying to make the best of a bad situation

Did you know if you leave it in D you can still manually shift the tranny on the 2012s? If you shift then it will hold that gear for about 20 seconds then return to auto mode. Works great when you want to pass someone. It gets it into the power band earlier for a quicker burst of speed.
