First Road Rash

While driving down the highway this morning I had a run in with some kind of metal debris in the middle of the road. It looked like a large strip of metal, maybe some scrap that fell out of a truck. It was right on the line between the passing lane and right hand lane, and of course right where I merged over to the right to exit. By the time I saw, it was too late to avoid. I ran it over with the right front tire and that bounced it up enough to slam into my passenger side skirt. Luckily it didn't hit the door or any of the metal body work, but it gouged and distorted most of the side skirt .

There was no tire damage, but my front wheel received a pretty deep gouge

As soon as I hit it and heard the sound it made I almost puked. Car was pristine, not a mark on it, and to add insult to injury I had just spent 2 hours detailing it that morning

It could have been worse. I know that doesn't help much, but it looks like you got off without anything serios. Maybe its time to get ZL1 side skirts?

I just get sick of the amount of garbage and crap always laying in the road. The other day I had to turn around because an intersection was covered in 4 inch boulders. WTF?!

Sorry to hear about your car. Best of luck with the repairs.

Sorry to hear about your car.

You are lucky that there wasn't more damage to the door or fenders.

This would be the perfect opportunity for the ZL1 side skirts

Yea that's what I was thinking, as much as it sucks I got pretty lucky. It missed the door by about 1/4 inch

And surprisingly, no tire damage...

I haven't ruled out this possibility

I'm more pissed about the wheel then anything. I assume that's a repairable gouge? I highly doubt the insurance company would spring for a new wheel

Yea, I park in the farthest possible spot at the store, and a rogue piece of metal gets me

Finally got the car to the body shop this past Tuesday, and they still have it. Apparently the first attempt at painting the rocker panel failed with the paint "molting". So they have to strip it and repaint it this weekend

Not quite sure why the paint would do that unless it was improperly prepped. Makes me wonder what the final product will look like
