How do I stop having to shift 1 to 4?

I have had my Camaro since May and since the first day I got it about 10 times a day (which I don't drive it everyday) whenever I am anywhere between 16-19mph my car makes me shift 1 to 4. Now I know that in the owner's manual it says this is a GM thing. But really? 10 times a day? I can be going from a stop into a turn. Or going from a stop onto a hill. Or even a stop onto a straightaway. It does not matter. To me, this seems a little too much. Is this normal? How do I get it to stop? For now I have to take my foot off the gas, almost get rear ended by the person behind me and then basically slam it into second and haul ass. I get so annoyed it isn't fun driving my car sometimes. It's actually more dangerous.

Any suggestions?

It makes you shift from 1st to 4th? Not good at all!
You should be able to shift as you feel fit. (thus a manual trans...)
I would bring it back to the dealer and show the service manager.

All they would tell him is that is suppose to do that. The best way to fix the problem is to buy a skip shift eliminator.

Give it more gas while taking off. This will hurt your MPG, which the CAGS was designed to avoid....

I bought the skip shift eliminator for my 4th gen, going to do the same for my 5th gen.

Give it more gas and dont short shift 1st. This drove me up a wall when i first got the car and I actually almost stalled it in the middle of an intersection. Learned real quick.

It's not that big of a deal, just shift into 3rd or slide the shifter all the way to the right and back in a quick movement and it will go into 2nd.

I didn't get that warning 10 times in the total time I had my car... then again I drive a bit too fast.

.99 resistor from Radio Shack, $15 Skip Shift Eliminator, or Custom Tuning are your 3 options.
