ive honestly thought about getting a new set of rear gears (as well as some upgraded axles as well) and getting something that is a little better for highway travel where 90% of my working is done.

yes, the around town driving is brutal with lots of starts and stops. Running 17s so wheel should not be the issue. It has 5 gears so no sixth to get me the good mpgs.
I put some Seafoam in and so far so good. Waiting to get the stuff to put through the MAF but Autozone did not have it. I will let you know when I have had a chance to really clean it out.

you go to all the trouble to get better MPG and now your talking about lift kits and bigger tires. There goes your savings in MPG.

the bigger WHEELS, on the other hand are going to have commercial grade tires on them with less overall weight and better road durability and hardness for better fuel economy. (think semi truck wheels/tires only a little smaller or think Prius tires only bigger). I'm not throwing mud terrain boggers on the truck. I'm going with highway terrain tires that are 100,000 mile rated. as for the fuel economy... here's the seafoam write up and vids http://www.lt1engine.com/tech/how-to...arbon-buildup/ and for a video of how bad a car can smoke after the vacuum line portion is done... http://www.myspace.com/video/camaros...rnout/10631047

sweet. you dont have to do the deep creep at the same time, you can really do it whenever, but just make sure you let it sit and soak in for about 15-20 min before firing it back up.

drained the rear diff yesterday morning. sanded down the rear cover that was starting to rust up and painted it black before filling it back up with RP 75w-90 gear oil.
no more gear whine!!!! going on my monthly reserve weekend this upcoming friday and will see if I gained any extra mpg from the gear fluid swap

time for an update...
been debating things about the truck and the 78 camaro... eventually, the 78 will have an LS based motor in it. quite possibly the motor out of the truck... which would mean the truck would need a new motor... and a Duramax/Allison combo is the way to go. that being said... I'm still sitting at 9.4:1 cr and wasting potential with the engine... and considering I dont feel like spending the 5-7k to put on a supercharger... I think a remote turbo setup is in order

Spike you will definitely loose mileage with a lift kit, along with bigger tires you will see a Drop of 4 to 5 mpg, or at least that is what mine got. 06 2600 hd Duramax 4x4 with an Allison. But I didn't buy it for gas/diesel mileage, I bought it to pull.

Don't forget to put a big ass box in the back so you can hold that thing down on the strip

I'm not putting mud bogger tires on the truck. I'm planning on going from a 16" wheel with a 6" tall sidewall to a lighter weight 19.5" wheel with a ~3-4" sidewall and a much harder composition (going from the current 280 rating to near 600 rating). overall tire height will increase by an inch or so, but rolling resistance will drop considerably. basically it will be a smaller version of a semi truck tire meant for long road hauls and low rolling resistance. weight transfer baby!!!
