shifter
Due to the response I'm going through this once more: The factory shifter knob is pressed on,you really have to pull hard to get it off,I thought it was never coming off,I finally used a heat gun and mechanics glove and pulled straight up and off it came. Then I pushed the factory boot down to bottom of the shaft and taped it there out of the way. The shaft is just pre-hard 4140 steel and I was able to thread it with a 1/2-20 die. I then got a pc of thin wall stainless tubing and reworked it on the lathe to fit over the shaft, then made the sleeve that's on the bottom, also out of stainless, the bore in the sleeve is .590 and the outside of the shaft sleeve is .625 so when you assemble it the shaft sleeve locks down the cup sleeve. I used the original factory boot and pulled it tight around the bottom of the original shifter shaft. The cup sleeve was made with a 1.375 inner diam. and it slide perfectly down over the boot for a factory look.As you can see the stainless polished up like chrome. The black shifter ball with the 6spd pattern is available anywhere!! Have fun

Looks great! Now I just wish I knew anything about machining and had my own lathe!
