Airbrushed engine cover
I'm looking at having my engine cover airbrushed. Any tips or words of wisdom from those that have done this before? Is there anything I need to make sure that the artist does to keep it from chipping or peeling or otherwise being destroyed?

Just do it...I'm sure it will come out fine with no damage. Just go over what you want done and give the airbrushed a pic to go by. I had mine airbrushed by RPI and it turned out great

I'm thinking of airbrushing it myself but worried about the engine heat messing with the paint.

Go For It
Any good auto airbrush artists knows their stuff. Our were done by Davies Custom Paint in Upstate NY, though he travels to bike weeks and rallies.
My car, and the engine cover, then Hub's vert and its cover.

will regular waterbased paint hold up to the heat in the engine bay?

I think not
You wouldn't use a water-based paint on the body. The engine cover needs at least as much protection. Check out auto paint manufacturers for what they offer. They should describe the properties of the paint.

Anyone have thoughts on the VHT Engine spray paint for painting the engine cover? I don't want to air brush but want to paint the silver parts of the engine cover.

engine paint
I know it's not the engine cover but I did my fuse box cover in VHT engine paint.
That's not a bloched paint it's a lava theme |
