I disagree, I took a 5.7 V8 Challenger with mods on, with my stock V8 6.2 SS/RS on at Camaro5Fest in April. We raced three times, I beat him 2 of the three and the only reason he beat me the first race was because I screwed up and let off the gas for a second. It's a drivers race and your friend is just more familiar with his car than you are with yours. Get out there and drive that Camaro like you stole her every single day!!! Don't be gentle and break her in with kid fingers. BREAK her in and turn her into a BEAST!!!
I can't wait to get mine back on the track in November and see what she can do in the cooler weather (we are still in the upper 90's).

No doubt-there will ALWAYS be someone faster. But nothing wrong with trying to catch-up. CAI,LT Headers,Hi-Flo Cats & back. Quality DYNO tune. Got a 'friend' of mine 75 RWH-Dyno connfirmed. Learn your Girl-other than gas and rubber it's a free mod. Be safe and enjoy. Also, you know you always win the 'swimsuit competition'.

Speaking from experience, if you don't want to change the car physically too much.... I would Def. go with a CAI & a ECM / TCM tune (engine & trans).
The Trans tune will make the car feel like a completely different car all together. Beyond that, a nice torque converter will do a nice little number for the car since that is a pretty big bottle neck on automatics.

When I get it tuned, does the tranny tune go with the engine tune Or is that a seperate tune? I been reading Diablo was a good choice. What's the best route. Also suggestions on which cai is the better? Thank y'all so much.

Go trade it on a Z06. Then you'll be happy that you can now beat him ,but be depressed paying $70,000 grand to do it. Although then you might be depressed again when someone in a ZR1 beats you. See where I'm going with this. Be happy with what you got. Someone always has one better.

I'm very happy with my car, but when u know something is faster but it is restricted with all these technical handcuffs, it's aggrevating. Can't wait to unleash the best!

Man, you don't want to start the CAI debate! Just do a thread search and you'll find plenty of good info and BS to digest. I went with K&N. Didn't know enough about heat sink so I ended up insulating that shiny AL tube-oh well. I do feel you get the best tune on a dyno-don't know about auto tranny's being included-imagine it comes down to dyno time? DO RESEARCH on the shop/tuner-ask a lot of ?'s-it's your hard earned $.

That's a game that you only win if you have deeper pockets than the guy your trying to beat.

Diablo is a bad choice right now for L99 because they do not support the trans tune part. I sold mine for that reason alone. Try SCT instead and Ted Jannetty can hook you up with one. Quote:
