V6 vs SS verts in road noise?

For the few that have owned both. Is the road noise the same? The wife's LT is fairly loud with the top up on cement roads, primarily from rear tires. Asphalt is fairly quite.

Just curious if they put more insulation in the SS's!

I think that road noise depends on what tires you are running. My 2LT is minimal on concrete, other than annoying freeway hop. I have the All Season Pirellis from the factory. When I need to change tires, I will go to Yokohama, love those tires!

No complaints with the SS.

hey, i test drove a 2lt vert today, and 1lt coupe, vert a 2013 new, and new 2014. i noticed the road noise on vert louder and sales man, in back seat, pointed that out too. gf in front seat didnt notice, but i could hear from rear by quarter panels. this has non rs, 19 inch all seasons. the coupe was quieter. is this normal? the vert was open on area behind back seat. both drove the same. definitely more blind spot on vert with top up. thanks

This whole topic is very subjective. For example, I had 2005 Mustang convertible and the road noise was so much louder than my SS vert. So if you asked me, the SS vert is very very quiet. The exhaust was barely audible, sadly, but after installing the Solo Performance axle back that wasn't the case anymore

ok snaphappy. i just noticed that the area behind back seat is open to trunk. i am sure that contributes. i kept thinking one of the back windows was open when driving it. but, i guess that is best it gets. more reason to get more speakers with BA radio to drown out road noise. lol

I would suspect it might be the tires or maybe it is just the road. Are others cars quiet on that same stretch of concrete? My 2LT convertible is by far the quietest convertible I have ever driven. I've had others comment on how quiet it is as well. I have the Pirelli 20 inch performance tires for summer and Blizzak 18 inch snow tires for winter. Neither seem to make much noise relative to other cars I drive.

this one has only 58 miles, but its a year old, 2013, new. it has the 19 inch polished with all season. i want those tires, not the RS, as it will be daily driver. i just thought it was loud, and even the salesman commented , he sitting in back seat. maybe the tires hard from not driving? it was just on a stretch of interstate about 50 mph with rtaffic. but the 2014 coupe was quieter. so, dont know if tires, or inflation of tires, or what. it is a nice car, 2LT with nav. but i want the all season tires.
