I got a statement for the gm customer service rep that makes an appearance here every so often. Ask questions from actual car gurus not like those tools at the end of that video! those are the people that would drive a campbells soup can with wheels as long as they cant text and play music.

I've been working on that. Putting my design ideas in a thread:

After seeing that video, im glad i have a current gen camaro. IMO the futuristic designs are just falling farther away from the muscle car heritage. Not to mention what factory engine options will be available by 2020...

You know, here is a crazy thought. Maybe.. just maybe... the majority of buyers are NOT car people. Calm down everyone. Those people at the end of the video are your average car buyer.

WE are not your average car buyers. The majority of people cannot tell the difference between a LT/SS/ZL1/Z28 except if it has a giant label on it. Even then they don't know what's inside.

GM designs, along with the majority of the other manufactures, for their target audience, not the niche few of us. While they try to appease everyone they just can't. So they put out a few amazing vehicles like the ZL1 and ZR1 etc to appease us. But the majority of their sales are to people who want something that looks good, drives good, and plays music.

Amen! That's exactly why I bought my Camaro!

Do you think the new vette has soul? I think it does. It's a very modern soul, but still soul!!!

Regarding the video, I can't imagine that the Camaro appearance is accidental. I think GM is testing the waters by floating out the new design, in order to see how we react. I think they did the same thing with first Transformers movie. Seems like a brilliant way to accumulate interest and pre-orders.

Unfortunately, I don't think they'll see a very positive reaction to the new Bumble Bee.

Just my thoughts

Yeah, the z28 is close to whats being sculpted in that clay. the dimensions are different but its still the same basic design elements. It looks more like the original rear bumper modified to look more aggressive. I agree that the license plate recess looks much better, the new one is just set too deep into the bumper. But its a more globaly friendly design than the previous which is what they were going for.

Hope those people at end of the clip does not represent a Camaro focus group. Wonder how GM currently selects focus groups today?

Think it was back in 1979, I was about 28 yrs. old, lived in Houston and driving a 1976 Eldo conv. bought new. Selected to be a member of a Cadillac focus group of 10-12 people, I was youngest & oldest about mid 50s. We were not all Cadillac owners and think, in part, selected based on incomes and education. Lasted about 2-hrs and issues tended to be about down sizing models, options, driving habits, etc. Had to sign a confidentially agreement as we were shown concept drawings. Very interesting experience.
