Car Show Cleaning Advice (Dylan??)
I'd like some advice on how to clean your car once at the location for an outdoor car show.
Obviously, one washes, cleans, details, waxes, etc and your home or whatever......but then you drive your car to the show site. What is the process of cleaning off the road grime once there? What are the dos and don'ts? Thanks! |

This is where you do the wheels. I usually take along a brush and brush off the tires and then apply whatever shine stuff you prefer. That way you don't have any "sling" issues with the tire spray or gel. Then step back and see if you missed any places in the cleaning process on the car, sometimes getting out in the full sun shows some streaks. Take along your instant spray detailer and wipe down with a mf towel in those places. Careful at all times not to spray your neighbor!

Depending on what the conditions are that you are driving in, but let's be optimistic and say that it's a good day with no dust blowing in the air.
If it was me I would inspect the car and look for dust. If there's a bunch of dust, I would pull out the California Duster and "wipe" the dust away. Then, I would use some Waterless Wash with a waffle towel to get it clean. I would then follow this up with some Detail Spray to get a nice shine. Again, it depends on the conditions and what the car looks like at the destination.

The last thing people want to see is somebody
washing & or waxing their car at a Car Show. Plus it's No Fun for you... Take along some kind of a Detail Bag ... Car Duster - A cordless Hand Vac is a plus - Micro Fiber towels - Tire Dressing {of your choice} .... As a Quick detailer , we use Eagle One - Nano Wax.. to clean off the bugs, Road Grime, & works great for chrome & even glass.... Wipe off your hoses with a cloth sprayed with dressing. Then sit back smile ; answer questions; "HAVE FUN"... and Snag your Award..... |

I just dust mine off with detail spray and a microfiber towel. I am not really set on winning.. I go mainly to hang out and check out the other cars...

Assuming you didn't have to travel far and the car isn't trashed when you arrive:
After-all its fairly safe to assume that your car is in darn good shape already, just a matter of cleaning up what you need to for the show. |

i have a ritual that i do every week at a car show
1-wipe brake dust off wheels and inside fenders. 2-get dust off car with california duster. 3-check for bugs on front of car and windshield. 4-detail spray car if needed. 5-check the engine for dust. |

Thanks everyone. I've been detailing my cars for quite some time now, but never for a car show/gathering. Everyone's advice is pretty much what I thought, but just wanted to make sure. I'm going to a gathering in a few weeks that will involve about an hour drive before I reach the site.

I usually wash and wax the day before or before the show. Then at the show just use some adams detail spray. Works great for me.
