Just listed my PATC built 6l80E FS tonight. I'm sure it will hold but it's not the most efficient way to get the car down the track. If it sells then in goes the 400, if not, I'll use it for a while then swap and see the difference. |

I think quite a few people had problems figuring out the tuning required for the built 6L's that they swapped to 4L's.
I'm guessing that there's only handful of guys out there that having the tuning figured out. |

The tuning isn't very hard. A lot of places just over tune them which makes them die quickly.
The problem is the tranny just isn't designed to take a ton of power. |

I had my clutch pack blow apart at a recent race. Come to find out the tuner tuned out the torque management on the upshifts which is supposedly a big no no on these transmissions. Ok to tune it down but not out completely. I had Century transmission near Houston do their super 6L80E upgrade and it is running great.

I tuned mine myself. Once you understand the basic principles, it's fairly straightforward. Don't believe all the "OMG! There are SO MANY parameters!" hype - they're counting individual elements in the tables. Entire tables can be tuned with a click (I use HP Tuners).

Yea mine seems to do fine on 9-10 lbs of boost 650-700 rwhp, but it sure don't like it when I grab the controller and put that 950-1050 rwhp, just burns the clutches up,convinced finally lol that it won't hold my pwr,but in the same breath I'm convinced it will hold the 650-700 rwhp range,so had it built again with some hi-energy clutches this time putting it on the shelf for another build or sale,4l80e in process.......................
