Looking for a Z28

Hey guys i'm looking to trade the v6 in for an ls1. Been checking out various ads on the web for z28s in the northeast. Found one on craigslist of all places, check it out in person looks well maintained no blemishes or rust, but (there's always a but) it's got high miles... like 174k of them. Currently asking 4800 but I could get it for less (its been up for awhile and he keeps reposting for less). Is there any price where a high mile car like that would be worth getting?

For reference here is the ad in question:
http://nh.craigslist.org/cto/863484886.html

Thanks guys.

I'd be willing to sell mine for $7,000. It's only got 130k on it, and it's a hell of a lot cleaner than that one is, and it doesn't have that obnoxious looking front license plate on the fascia. The only thing is, is that mine isn't leather. Oh, and mines bone stock if you're into that, and if you're not than I'm about to put a K&N air intake and filter on it, as well as Flowmaster pipes.

I'm a huge fan of Magnaflow. I used it on my Cobalt. It sounded great and gave a little kick.

test drive the car, if you like it, take 4k with you in cash and throw 3500 at him, then 4k. if he doesnt bite, leave it.

Flowmaster is also known as Chokemaster amongst the 4th gen guys. From my understanding it flows even worse than stock. I personally jumped on the Magnaflow bandwagon with a cat back and high flow cats along with Kooks headers and a Kooks Y-pipe on my Trans Am. It sounds great without being uncomfortably loud. When I'm not on the gas you can't even hear it which is a cood thing considering the laws in my state. It doesn't drone on the highway either. Ok sorry to make this a . Back to your regualrly scheduled posts...

For that money Id buy the car, I paid double that for my 95 Z28 in Saskatewan Canada, but up here there more expensive than in the states...

Anyways, I like the dynomax. I put them on every vehicle I own, and they sound great.

how much is your budget and how far are you willing to drive/fly to get what you want?

I happen to know of a 2000 Z28 A4 car that is Monterrey Maroon and is in the San Antonio area and needs a good home... they're asking $11,900 for it, but have had NO bites at that price... I'm fairly sure you could get it out the door for alot less.

If ya have a code reader I would also suggest taking it it with you to see if there's any trouble codes pending in the ECM just to make sure the seller is on the up-n-up. Not to say that they aren't, but it's your hard earned money and it keeps honest people honest. ") Just my 2c. ")

Thanks for all the info guys. I passed on the car for now but i'll keep up the search. Budget is tight right now so I might just save up a little more and see how the release of the fifth gens affects the price on the older ones.

Not sure if you've bought yet or not, but I just bought a 93 Z28 with 64,000 original miles for 3,800 today. I found it on craigslist. You just have to be patient. I've been searching through craigslist, etc since early this summer. I just don't say don't get in a hurry or settle for anything less then what you're looking for. And the best thing about it. It was bought new and owned by a 58 year old woman until she passed away about 3 years ago. Her son in law bought it from the estate and has only put 2,000 miles on it since 2005. I was really looking for a 98-02, but I couldn't pass this on up! The paints a little faded, but the interior still looks new for the most part.
