Got $3,500 from insurance. Ideas for exhaust, bumper & diffuser.
I was involved in a traffic accident. Sucks, but now I have $3,500 (I could bump it up to $4,000) to do whatever I want to the back end of my 2013 Camaro SS.
The reason the insurance money is so high is because the $2,000 Dual-Mode exhaust got bent so I need a new cat-back exhaust. My biggest question is: Should I spend the $2,000 to get the Dual-Mode replaced? Should I spend ~$1,400 for an aftermarket system (MagnaFlow, Borla, etc)? Can I save the money and have the exhaust bent back? (the tips look fine) The rear diffuser has the large openings for the quad exhaust. If I get an aftermarket exhaust, can I get quad tips, or do I replace the diffuser with one that accommodates dual exhaust? How would YOU handle the problem of needing to replace your exhaust, rear bumper and rear diffuser? Thanks for your help!! (PICS HAVE BEEN ADDED BELOW) Last edited by icalfan; 04-21-2013 at 12:26 AM. I would cut whatever was damaged free and weld the tips on to fresh pipe. Unless the actuators were broken.

I guess it would depend if you liked the Dual-mode or not. There are some good sounding cheaper systems though, and would you need a full cat-back or just the axle back?

The dual-mode exhaust replacement from GM is a one-piece cat-back system. Maybe I can do an axle-back aftermarket system. I'll check on that this week. I like the current sound from the exhaust, but I pulled the fuse on the dual-mode because I like it loud all the time. I like a nice deep tone.

If you have a manual, have someone build you an aftermarket clutch.

Speaking from experience here...General maintenance should come before upgrades imo. I just dropped 2500 on clutch related BS. I'm not upgrading so much as a blinker bulb until I can afford a replacement aftermarket clutch. So that's what I think so and so should do with whats left over of his $3500

Actually. Now that i see it... I would check everything all the way up to your exhaust manifold. Looks like it got pushed on pretty hard.

i would just get the new quad exhaust with the GM GFX!
but you can always get aftermartet exhaust too! for me... i never heard the quad in person.. thats probably why i would just end out getting some 3" catback.. |
