From memory your tool set up looks correct, but turning the wrench takes some muscle, that I do remember, once it gets past the initial crush it gets easier, but to get started takes muscle. I also lubed up the nut/washer etc w/anti seize to keep from galling.

I would also thread the bolt deeper into the riv nut so the threads come out the back side of the rive nut. Maybe it does, but can't tell from the pic.
Thanks!

I used the correct bit but it kind of hacked up the holes. The rivnut will basically rest it in hole, but it's fairly loose.

Smaller rivnuts I've installed with the basic tool were much more snug, but the small rivnuts are apples to oranges to these ones..

I'll try to find a longer 8mm bolt to get more thread at the bottom, but it does make it to the bottom of the rivnut..

Frustrating...have to fly to Chicago 1st thing Monday; not back till Thursday; first track day Friday morning. Would have liked to have had it installed...

Longer screw will help, may also help using a ratcheting wrench to keep momentum once the riv-nut starts crushing. It is not easy getting them started but once you get one you will get the feel for it. I think there is a youtube vid of someone installing them if that helps.

I used a smaller but than 35/64 ( I don't remember what size, just something i had on hand ) then i used a dremel tool with a small file type bit to enlarge the holes to the perfect size.

I also made my holes to big. Although I got one started and in by angling it in so it would catch. I'm wondering if I would use some gorilla glue so it would hold and then crank down on it? Oh well, one down and six to go.....

So if you drill too big a hole, I found an easy fix. First, the home made rivet tool works! However, for what the #@#% GM! Not many have that size drill bit, so I was told at the hardware store to use a multi-step bit (because the didn't have the right size bit). Don't do it! Buy the right size drill bit, because if the hole is not snug (which no one mentioned in this forum) the rivet will spin and thus not expand!

Solution: plumbers tape around the rivet to make it snug and not turn - It then will expand nicely and won't come out. This solution is for a slightly loose hole.

If the hole is too big I would suggest glue (I had one that was too big) and the glue held it in place while it puckered enough to make it permanent.

I haven't done mine yet, haven't had a chance.
I have a track day Saturday and hope to have it done before then.
We'll see...
What size drill bit is required?
I purchased a multi step bit :(

if you use the multi step bit (which I did), it pulled my drill into the spoiler (I couldn't control it) and so some of the holes were too big. I believe on a drill press it would work great. So I would suggest getting the right bit and error on going small and slowly make the hole bigger. The fit has to be tight to hold the rivit. If the rivit spin evena bit under torque then you can't make it expand! I ended up using several methods to make the holes that were too big tight (see above).

Ok, I ordered the correct bit on Amazon and it should be here by Friday
How much time do I need for the install?
I have a track day Saturday
Also, did anyone use the spec torque wrench to tighten it down?
