Dont "lug" your 6M...ever even after break in?

The manual tells you never to "Lug" the engine(operate the engine at low rpm in higher gears) and to always choose a lower gear if possible. Does anyone one else agree with me that the conditions set to engage "skip shift" pretty much shots you right in to a "lug" situation? That is stupid.

about what RPM does your car go to in 1 to 4 shift? Is it over the idle RPM by a few hundred? I'd only think it was bad if it was at idle RPM or lower....

This message will come on when:
• The engine coolant temperature
is higher than 76°C (169°F),
• The vehicle is going 24 to
31 km/h (15 to 19 mph) and
• The vehicle is at 21 percent
throttle or less.

Before I disabled it, it sure did seem to lug when I skipped shifted...No issues any longer though!

No, lugging can occur probably up to 2000 rpm. Try going 45-50mph and stick your car in 6th then punch the gas your car will begin to lug and watch your tach when the car stops lugging you will then know exactly how high an rpm you can go and still have lugging occur. What Im trying to say is that its not really a rpm dependant thing it has to do with gearing and the load on your engine.

The 1st to 4th shift is easy to defeat...either give a little more throttle or feint going into 4th and then quickly shift into 2nd...works every time...

for what ever reason when I installed my skip shift eliminator from my 4rth gen it still directed me toward fourth but I could circumvent it it was just a pain to use that way so I took it off.

The skip shift eliminator is an absolute MOD necessity. For $17 (ebay delivered) it is beyond high value.
