I think I'm gonna need a new exhaust... AGAIN

So after like 9k miles IIRC my exhaust was making this weird rattle under certain RPMs. Dealer ended up replacing the whole exhaust, now here I am at around 15k miles and I can hear faintly the rattle is coming back! It was and definitely is now in one of the mufflers.

I really don't want to keep having new exhausts put on, anyone else have this issue?

I did not sure the milage when first replaced, I'll look at the paper work.
I think it was around 7k. I am almost 15k now and so far it has not returned.

My stock exhaust was much louder with rattles and random noises then my mbrp exhaust. What about going with a aftermarket setup?

Whoever is welding the OE systems needs to take another welding class.
Mine is hanging in my garage, replaced by LTs and a catback. The OE LS3 resonators look like they were welded in by a Jr High shop class - on their first day.

I wanna go aftermarket, I just can't afford to drop $1200 right now. Its just annoying to go back to the dealer twice in less than 6 months to have the whole exhaust replaced.

Thanks I appreciate it but I won't need it, the dealer will replace it free luckily cause its still under warranty. The rattle is faint and comes from the mufflers, its more of a vibration. What happens is the guts of the muffler seem to rot or something I'm not sure, but they get loose a bit and vibrate only at certain RPMs. Most of the time the car sounds fine, other times it sounds like shit. Once it gets really bad and the weather is cold it sounds really bad at high idle.

LOL. I just wish I had the spare cash to buy an aftermarket system right now. Or I wish there was a way they could credit me the exhaust (the factory exhaust retails for $1200) and let me put that towards something from GMPP. They would never do that tho.

exactly... i figured he'd say no- but hey couldn't hurt to ask, I told myself... he said yes, and I thanked him. We went to the parts counter and got the warranty replacement cost and applied it to the ATAK. I ended up paying about 150 bucks.

Glad to hear it worked out for you. I asked my service manager here the same thing and he said no, they had to replace it with OEM stock parts under the warranty. So, my exhaust was replaced a week ago and I'm starting to hear the rattling sound again. I'm going to give it another shot at the aftermarket when I go back for the SAME issue. Maybe, they'll work something out with me since this will be the 2nd time around for the same problem

Thats what I am hoping will work for me, that I will now be back 5k miles later for the same exact issue with a new exhaust.

I still have a feeling I'm gonna get a solid no.

Put Longtubes and a nice cat back system like Corsa and your exhaust will be fine for a real long time.

I would love to... its the whole "I don't have the money to do that" and "I paid $40k for a car that shouldn't have an exhaust that sounds like a vibrator." that get in the way.

I would put on a new exhaust tomorrow but I don't have $1200 to drop on a Corsa like I want when i have to redo my bathroom this year :(

Thats all you can do is just keep replacing the factory exhaust till you get a good one, or.... just to hell with the bathroom
