It voids the powertrain portion, but not the unrelated systems (radio, windows, seats, etc.)

most likely, would you warranty a engine if someone else tampered with it?

here is a link to the actual act that covers aftermarket parts and voiding warranties.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuso...s_Warranty_Act

a cam would likely void not the entire powertrain, but for sure the engine

A cam will need a tune and that will void your entire pt warranty if a problem arose related to it. Lowering springs will not void the pt warranty, but, will void any problems related to them, i.e.; springs, struts, etc.

Hmmm... let's see. Someone tears your engine apart and puts aftermarket parts in it.

I gonna guess the answer is "Yes".

It really depends. If the crank breaks, after a cam install, but the root cause is a material defect, it would still be covered because the cause of the failure wasn't the cam.

This may be true, but good luck proving that it would have happened anyway.

If you're worried about a warranty don't bother modding.

+1

Magnuson-Moss is terrific, but it would still be an uphill battle. Mod only with the idea that if it breaks or burns, it's on you.

yes.. but a dealer will see the cam and say nope. it would really take a material tester to prove it was the material failure.

I would add are you ready to hire a lawyer if the deny the claim. May cost u just as much in lawyer fees to get them to pay a claim. They have deep pockets and would rather pay there lawyers 10 times what the repair cost to deny the claim as not to set a precedence for future cases.
