Everyone with Black 20inch Standard ZL1 wheels..
So, curious anyone out there with these standard set of rims experience any parallel parking boo boos? I had one this morning, ruined my whole day. The paint on the lip of the rim got scratched off on the rear passenger side wheel. Wished we had curb side sensors.

So sorry to hear that...........trust me , i know how that feels.........today I pulled into a parking lot at the bank and I nicked a curb with the front passenger wheel........no speed involved but lifted the front end up .....the rim got a little scrape but the rim protectors on the tire helped a lot.........just about barfed when i did it.........so I took the car home and let my wife take it for her first drive..........figured I better let her feel what its like before i wreck it.............still trying to figure how i misjudged that curb........have to run now, in the middle of getting alcohol poisoning......the first ding ALWAYS hurts.........

Yea, it hurts. I was backing into my garage in the bay with the lift (hoist for some of you, LOL), I hit the pad to one of the arms, took a small nick out of the rim protector in the tire and a small nick on the wheel. I hated to even look at it.

With the poor visibility these cars have it would be really cool to have back cameras in the outside mirrors pointed in the blind spots and for parking.
......that or I should be a better driver. |

A little trick, when you use your passenger mirror, adjust it to where it is looking down at the curb when your trying to park and put those small round spot mirrors on, they do work wonders for the blind spots.

or just learn how to park.. you know, spin around and actually look where you are going instead of relying on the mirrors.. |

Well if you want to touch them up without actually painting them, I just discovered Plastidip. It's like a matte black spray on vinyl. It peels off when you don't want it on there. I've seen people spray their whole car with this stuff! Now I don't really know about that, folks say it is fine for paint but I don't know if I'd take the chance with the whole car. You can find some videos on it on Youtube, they sell the black at Home Depot.

I did this the first weekend I had the car, but the wheels are extremely easy to touch up. Use a die grinder or dremel with a fine grit stone to smooth out the scrape, clean the general area around it with mineral spirits and spot paint it with Dupli Color Universal Black BUN0100.
