ZFat's Wickerbill Install

Wow! Nice piece! Chevrolet- out to impress and doing a great job!

* It's not an install for the faint of heart.
* It's made of metal and it's heavy duty.
* You need a specialized tool to install the NutSerts
* You need a special size drill bit- 35/64"!
* It comes with a bad-ass silver "Performance" adhesive backed plate.
* The attachment bolts are heavy! I'm going to find titanium replacements
* I'd actually like to do the wicker in titanium, someone make a few of these would you?
* The rear spoiler is solid and thick (heavy duty)
* It come with a full size paper template for locating and drilling on the spoiler.

I had to go buy ($38) a wacky sized 35/64" drill bit for the final hole size because my tech didn't have one. If one of you want to buy my bit from me for $30 I'll ship it free and everyone can pass it around

My tech had access to a freakin' nifty high-class BMW Nutsert Install Tool you see in the pics. Worked great!

I think it looks awesome installed and now that's ready for my track day next weekend

If you are very patient and mechanically inclined, and have a Nutsert Install Tool, I'd say you could do the install. Otherwise you need to locate a tech who is capable of this kind of specialty/detail work who will not f*ck it up.

I chose to attach my "Performance" plate on the back of the wicker, you might decide to put it elsewhere

At what speed do those become a restriction? 150mph right? Meaning the point where the drawbacks outweight the benefits. Very cool, looks fantastic and look forward to hearing your reviews on the handling at lower speeds. No more spinning!! :poke:

Was this purchased separately or part of the car? I always wanted the Carbon Fiber Metal Edged Blade for the ZL1.

5/16"? 3/8"? It was surprising to me how thick the material was.

It does not come with the car, it is purchased separately if you want one. It is a GM part.

More speed = more downforce = more drag. Claimed "up to" 150 additional lbs downforce with the wicker. My home track has a section with high-speed esses where this will really help plant the car when I need it most. Restriction of top speed due to added drag is not an issue for me on any track I run. I'm perfectly happy maxxed out at 145-150mph at the end of a straight. A WAG is the wicker shaves 5mph off theoretical top speed?

For me drawback exceeds benefit anytime I'm driving on the freeway- it will hurt mpg

It doesn't exist. It was for the Carbon ZL1 concept car, and no vendor has been able to reproduce it.
