x-pipe?

does anyone know if the new camaro has an x pipe? if it does i might have to eliminate the x pipe and run true duals. or will this hurt the performance, if so how much?

First of hello from 60 miles south. Are you stationed a Cherry Point? Damn swinging with the wing are we?...lol

A X-pipe is true duals, they just meet up at some point and cross. Yes it would adversely effect performance to take of a X-Pipe. You want a X-Pipe it helps with air scavenging to move exhaust faster out of the collectors. The faster you can get air in and out of a engine the more efficient it will operate and officiant operation results in more power and Tq. The effects of a x-pipe or H-pipe are usually only noticed in the lower RPM range.

I cant tell you how much, but here is a picture of a x pipe as you can see it is true duals all the way out. To be honest a X-pipe balances out the sound of your engine making it sound smoother and better in my opinion. Remeber back pressure is the enemy

i'll put it to you this way... im looking for a cam with a 112 LSA (rough) i dont want a smooth pretty sounding exhaust that will hold the door open and say good morning. a real muscle car in my opinion should sound like its gonna stand up and smack you in the face with a chainsaw kinda scary. it wont hold a door open for you, it'll slam the door a half second late and hit you with it.

^^ that car also doesn't have tail-pipes, which makes a HUGE sound difference. He probably just has some straigh pipe (no cats) and mufflers. Too load for a street car IMO, but if that's what your looking for...hey, it's your car but I'm glad I don't live next to you.

IMO...w/ that cam, a pair of long-tubes, X w/ hi-flow or no cats and a nice pair of mufflers believe me...it'll sound like a stiff jab to the face and yes, it'll sound lumpy.

And I can almost promise you he has a X-pipe on it. But to each his own brother, dont let me change your mind.

im thinkin LT's high flow cats or none at all and a pair of flowfasters

After having no cats with my last 2 LS1's My recommendation would be towards paying a bit more and going with highflow cats instead of none. After I got headers and removed my cats on my '01 vette the sound got really "raspy", after about a year it was starting to bother me more and more and I'm pretty sure it wasn't just from adding the LT headers. I think it was from having no cats. Also it seemed to cause more carbon buildup on my exhaust tips by not having cats, alot more of that junk won't get trapped by them anymore.
