Tow hook mounting question
Found this on amazon. How would I go about mounting this to the front of my 14 v6?

I would go on jdp and look at the kits specifically made for our cars.
that one would only work on a screw in type tow hook on most European cars. I'm not sure if the 14s have that or not but if i doesn't won't work. - "Lifes to short to drive a boring car" |

I saw the JDP and ohio speed pieces and they are nice as I get that they are made for our cars but I just prefer the flip down look

Sure. You post a universal 12"-18" tow hook asking where to buy one at. You posted your own answer. Buy it, cut it down to proper length, and fab up a mounting point for it. As far as tow hooks ready to bolt on, I agree with Lombardi. Call JDP. I got mine from them and love it. I know you prefer the "flip down look" but I haven't seen one. I'm sure some makes one for your car? Hold on, I'll google it and see if I can find you one.

I know these are for a z28/1LE but maybe they might work on your car. They look easy to install and with some creativity I bet they would work for you. |

Have you checked out Skylane765's (site sponsor) site.. they have your "flip down" hook.. however I am not certain it will work with your car.

only way I would see is to get the screw in insert and weld it into your crash support. but they would have to be very good welds and I would still question the integrity. If the zl1 has a screw in I could say swapping to that bumper and getting a zl1 crash support to that has the threads. other wise your typical bolt ins are your only options.
but thinking of that you could make a bolt it that comes down but instead of the hook and a screw in insert. can be done but lots of work and figuring out the right strength material. - "Lifes to short to drive a boring car" |

That's what I was thinking, maybe I could take a crack at making somethig. It would use the bolt in location like the JDP tow hook. It would come through the lower grille then, would have a seperate bolt or something that would look like the flip down style, whatdo you guys think?
