So with the KR going crazy, are you just losing performance or potentionally harming your motor? To be honest I cant afford the premium here, its about 1.60 a litre which is $112 to fill up. Cant do that as a student, I go through $100 a week just as it is using regular.
If 87 only hurts performance, then ill stick with it, still goes like a bat out of hell on it

that's pretty much what I'm saying. The V6 doesn't need premium. And the performance gain isn't going to be much if any at all.

problem is too many people come in here and say there is NO BENEFIT in running premium, which is incorrect... now whether it is worth it is a completely separate issue that is up to each individual owner to decide...

Heres the bottom line:

Like your car - use 87
Love your car - use the highest you can find.

As I said earlier, nothing but Shell 93 for me!

I have a SS with a supercharger. I have used 93 since I got it. I try like hell to use Shell but if I can't find that I get BP. My buddy works for a gas testing company and he says that these are the best. For what it is worth.

Regular. No need to waste money on premium

I go and get gas where ever is the busiest. I rather have Exxon gas that constantly get refilled than going with shell that sits in the tank.

going with 93 is definitely not a waste but not a necessity.

The manual recommends to use regular, so I stick to regular now and save my money as gas 'aint cheap these days. But some people swear by premium. It's up to you, it will not harm your car using it, only your wallet.
im sure part of the reason you didn't notice the "immediate" effect was because you still had some 87 octane in there and you didn't give your ECU a chance to adjust to full 93 before filling it back up. so you probably avg'd out with a tank of 89-91ish. so to say it is a waste is kinda silly.

agreed...the V6 doesn't NEED premium, but there IS a noticeable difference between running on 87 and 93. i've tried both...not only in my camaro, but in previous vehicles as well. with the reduction of KR...more power is able to be harnessed. so yes, 93 is a performance enhancing fuel...and seeing how we have a CR 11.3... more power in lower RPM's would also result in better fuel efficiency = better MPG's. i believe 93 in conjunction with a tune would also net more available power.

but i could be wrong...im not a fuels specialist so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

oh yeah...and nothing but shell unless im out of options. tier one gas only

I wouldn't say that it's not enough to justify the price. I only end up paying about $3 more per fill up to go with premium over regular. For others, the price might vary and thus become a YMMV situation.

I think anything 12:1 and over needs premium, but not 100% sure.

the quality of the gas if far more important than the octane rating.
LFX has 12.4:1 CR correct?
