2011 Camaro vert and road racing

I own a 2011 Camaro convertible and am trying to do some SCCA pdx events. When I arrived they would not let me run since the car does not have a roll bar. I showed them that the car has a 5 star rollover rating by NHTSA, but they said I need something in writing showing it has built in protection, like the Honda S2000 has. Does anyone know anything about this issue and where to get the info? I called GM and they are researching it but have said they wont put anything in writing. I would prefer road courses to just the drag strip. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need a roll bar. The S2000 has a steel hoop behind the driver's head. You do not and that is what will save your life.

5 star rating means it is not likely to roll, it does not mean that you are protected if and when it does.

Angelwings Tech plans on offering a bolt-in rollbar for Gen5 Camaros, similar to what we offer for 5th and 6th generation Corvette convertibles. The Gen5 Track Day Bar will be designed specifically to meet the track day/HPDE requirements of most tracks and track day organizers, and will be removable. Send me a PM with your email address and I'll add you to the list of those who we are keeping informed of our progress.
