this article means nothing but what the dealers order and is available from the factory....It would have been better had the article said which colors where on constraint due to overwhelming demand and people highly desired not what you get stuck with from the dealer....and noting it said red and blue both rose by1% because some dealers got stuck with too many black and white stuck on there lots and miffed customers wanting colors not the lack of it.
Black and white is the colors most auto manufacturers make because its the standard and always will be...black supposedly luxury....white = fleet vehicle.
And everyone will have their taste, yet what the lot has dictates a lot of decisions like 99% I traded from the best on the lot triple black and got the color I wanted crystal red.....( Went to lot looking for a ruby red they of course had sold fast and just kept it online to suck people in....and have noticed lots doing that!!!!!! entice them then you get them in and they say oh well give me the _______ blank color, yes it has happened to me more than once and goes on all the time. Not to say white is not o.k., but it is a body mans favorite color to hide dings.... SO don't get a big head.

From my experience, something like a tint of silver best shows off body lines. Less light reflective than pure white. Darker colors tend to hide body lines.

My brother was an automotive designer for both Ford & Chrysler (now retired). He told me mock-ups (clay models etc.) of future auto designs always colored in neutral silver/gray colors to best depict lines of an auto.

I prefer to buy white, starting with my bought new 1976 Eldo conv. My Summit White Camaro is my 4th white auto factory ordered. Looks crisp and clean even with 2 weeks of dust. I am a designer myself, hate it when colors I have been using for 30+ years become a "current" trend.

I thought about buying a 2014 SW 1LE, it's a sharp color for sure.

But in the end Black can not be beat when clean. And since my car is not a daily driver...
