5th bow disease

Well....I finally caught the dreaded 5th bow disease as mine broke today.

I know lots of you have been down this road and have repairs done any suggestions as do's and don'ts or any tsb literatures please let me know
I have called the dealer already and they are ordering a 5th bow.
I am awaiting on a return call from the service manager as I think that they should order the water bag etc. at the same time.and just do it once hopefully.

thanks, you guys are great...enjoy your verts while mine is in the shop.

Just leaving now to pick mine up. Was finished yesterday afternoon - 5th bow replaced, and during the process found wear on the water bag so needed to get that ordered and replaced as well.

Will be back in a couple of hours -

fwiw - just got the car back. Best the top has ever looked. Replaced 5th bow, replaced water management bag, and did the TSBs for rub marks, trim/tape, etc. Will have to see if that works and if the new bow holds up - but so far, much improved. Has never looked this tight.

I called GM Canada directly."We do not have engineers or personel to send out to oversee repairs."
I had mentioned what is happening in the USA
"We can't control what happens in another country to service their customers"

WTF- I am pissed.

I basically told GM if the dealer can't fix it right I am dropping the car at the line for repairs. The plant is less than an hour from me.

GM Canada told me to take it to a dealer. They are unaware of any issues.
I told them I had TSB #'s.Still to no avail.
All BS smokescreen if you ask me.

on a positive note, when I called my selling dealer, They know about the problem and the TSB and just received another one in for a 5th bow.
They claim they will have the parts sometime next week for mine.

keeping my fingers crossed.

If anyone is keeping track I just hit about 4000 miles.

The very worst case scenario, If the dealer can't get it right, I will drive it to the USA to get it done as the warranty will still be applicable for me in North America.

congrats Il-tracker
I hope the top stays in good working order for you.
When I called my dealer and just mentioned 5th bow broken, they knew about this type of problem and ordered the parts right away.Parts should be in next week sometime and then my vert will go in for repairs.I am going to keep my fingers crossed that they will be able to fix it right the first time.
At least they were aware of it , which is a positive. When I talked to the dealer they also mentioned they just got another vert in for the same problem.

I keep saying the 1000 Camaro5 MARCH! Winners never quit and quitters never win. If we give up due to the frustration level-we lose-we have to continue to complain and gather steam.

Mainly because this is purely an aesthetic/appearance issue and not related to a safetly issue; Unless of course you consider several pissed off vert owners running GM execs over with their damaged top convertibles a safetly issue

!

All kidding aside, I'm in the same boat, and other than small pinch/rub marks, my top is pretty damn good without any of the noise issues, headliner, indexing, etc. I will will take my top in for the first two steps of the newest TSB, but will be damned if they touch anything else.
