J - pipes or magnaflow x pipe with MRT v1

First I'd like to say hello to everyone. I just got my Camaro about two months ago and this looked like an awesome forum to join.

The first thing I did was to order a set of MRT v1s to put on it. I love new sound. I've had them for about 600 miles and the drone has died quite a bit but is still there. I'm going to be driving 5 hours to my college and back quite often so I would like to get rid of it if possible.

From what I can tell I have the option to put a set of J-pipes on it(which is what I'm leaning towards) or put a magnaflow resonated x pipe on it. I love the sound how it is and really don't what to change it, which is what I'm afraid the x pipe will do. I wasn't able to find any posts about using the J-pipes with the MRTs so I was wondering if they work well together. I know there's quite a few threads on this already but I can't seem to figure out which would be the best to put on. Thanks for any help in advance.

I dont believe you cuz I made two posts for the J pipes+MRT V1 lol!

Here is it, hope it helps.

Personally, they are very worthy and do make the car drone-free. All you hear is a nice low rumble from inside the car.

Cool

Magnaflow Res x pipe would quite things down a bit but also give you a deeper tone and would help with drone somewhat.. It would also give you some power too, not much but a little bit is better than nothing right?

I see you have the Solo J pipes. I was thinking of buying them but the $195 price on them is putting me off. I seems they don't go to well with the MRTs since they can't be adjusted once mounted. I was thinking of having my muffler shop weld some up that could tuck up behind the mufflers as there is more room there.

The fact that the res x pipe would tone things tone is the only reason I'm not wanting to put one on. I really like the current sound and most definitely do not want it to be quiet again. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I could put a TrueX x pipe on it and still experience the power gains plus have some more rumble in the note right?

I prefer the sound from the X over the H I do not now if the TruX will be deeper then the Res. X but it would be louder

With the TruX pipe you will gain the same horsepower from a resonated x pipe, since they are box technically "x pipe", but with the tru x pipe you will sound a bit louder and raspy too.

How well did they work? And if I may ask how long did you make the pipes?

I downloaded a frequency meter to try and measure mine but is was all over the place. I'm not sure how accurate it was. It seems my drone is between 100 - 120 Hz and I get it starting at about 1700 RPMs and up. It looks like a lot of people used 28 inch pipes for their builds. According to this chart for the v6 that would only eliminate drone from 2000 RPMs and up if the pipes are good for +-400 RPMs from the target zone. Sorry if I seem dense here, this is all new to me and I don't have enough money to mess this up.

I just copied the thread, his math seemed good. My drone does not hit until 80. But where do I get to drive 80? ;-) I just took his pictures to my exhaust guy, and let him go. I am happy with the out come.

It looks like I won't be getting j-pipes. Went down to my muffler shop today and showed theme the pictures and told them what I wanted. The man they have welding said it was some crazy **** and didn't really want to attempt it. For a price they said I was looking at around $400 for fab and install. I'll be ordering the magnaflow res x-pipe and seeing how that helps. I also plan to delete the stock resonators to try and keep it about the same volume.

You can learn a boy to weld, but you can't teach him to think.

Only took my welder 3 hrs and a case of beer. The steps are laid out for them in the pictures. My hats off to the original j-pipe thread. Saved me a lot of head ache.

I have the mrt v2, and after reading this thread I'm interested in getting the trux pipes or resonated x pipes. Sitting at 278 with cai and tune, what could I expect to get from it hp wise? I really want to get to 300
